We Mean Business

We Mean Business

As you’ve seen by some of our previous designs, we like to put our name out there.

This week, we decided to make a few business cards that strayed from our current design of gold text on black paper. We opted for a small, subtle change from this layout. Now, we’re making some out of stainless steel. The man behind the new business “card,” Mike Eastway, starts by drilling out the design on a single piece of unpolished stainless steel.

Once the design is cut out, you can see that it looks neat, but it’s not nearly ready yet. Next up comes a few rounds of sanding and buffing to eliminate any leftover shavings and most of the scratches:

After it’s polished enough to sufficiently blind whomever angles the card incorrectly, we hand it over to Tom, who was nice enough to run a small bead across the card. We like to show off our level of craftsmanship here at Fluid MotorUnion, so it makes sense that we’d include some of the best-looking welds in the country:

With everything said and done, it’s a process that takes a couple hours, but the end result is quite the beauty to behold:

Since they take quite a long amount of time (and they utilize several machines normally used for fabrication), we’re not going to be making 500 of them to hand out on a whim. We’re still figuring out where they’ll be best utilized, but there’s plenty of time to work all that out. For the meantime, though, we have yet another piece from Fluid that we’re extremely proud of. All props go to Eastway and Tom for their handiwork.

We’re closed on Thanksgiving, so if you’re reading this inbetween piles of food and piles of football players, have a very Happy (and obviously safe) Thanksgiving. We’ll be back open for business on Black Friday, but sadly we won’t be doling out any 4 a.m., door-buster deals.

Thank you for the write-up, I will be linking to it in my next e-newsletter to my personal students, the truth is (though a bit off topic, I admit) the near future of business and also worthwhile business often is the ability of organizations to adapt to the web infrastructure in a fashion that is actually approved by their potential customers and also prospects… Retail space will likely be swapped out more frequently by server room and cpu processing cycles…. My own on line jewellery organization has verified that time and time again… No matter impressive posting, thanks and make your voice heard….
