15 Mar Volkswagen Suspension Noise Diagnosis
Recently we performed a Volkswagen suspension noise diagnosis on a Golf. The customer reported a creaking and clunking noise when he would go around corners and over bumps. Our technician got the car up on a lift and began investigating. He found that on the passenger side, the front spring was cracked at the bottom of the coil assembly resulting in some of the noise the customer was concerned about.
On the driver’s side, the front spring was cracked both at the bottom and top mounts which was causing the rest of the concerning noises. Luckily the rear suspension was actually in pretty solid shape! Since this vehicle had ~120,000 miles the shocks were also quite worn. This Volkswagen suspension noise was solved with a set of new front coil assemblies and is back on the road, hopefully for many miles to go!
Suspension issues are common, especially in the greater Chicago land area. The drastic range of temperature between winter and summer causing massive potholes to appear in the roads seemingly overnight. This causes incredible stress on suspension components and wheels causing accelerated wear. Reach out to one of our service advisors to schedule your diagnosis today.
