06 Oct The Vital Things In Life
The vital things in life consist of food, air, water and shelter. Let’s explore those last 3 things a little closer.
Let’s start with air. Without air, we wouldn’t be able to breathe, and that’s not a very good thing. The same goes for a motor; if the car is starved for air, it won’t be able to properly add fuel to the mixture and will suffer. A good set of filters is important in keeping your car breathing well. So, on Scott’s Turbocharged Explorer, we made sure to find a spot where the filters won’t suck up water but will still have access to cold air from under the vehicle. We picked a good spot behind the bumper cover on both sides:
You’ll also need to exhale, or else you’ll keep inhaling and have nowhere for all that pressure to release itself. Thankfully, this motor’s equipped for that, as we welded in the blow-off valves to the piping under the engine bay:
Water is just as important as air. A large portion of the human body is water, so removing the water, we’re not left with much. The same goes for a liquid-to-air intercooler setup; without any water, it’s basically useless. So we put together the intercooler piping, using some very nice A/N fittings from the folks at Winner’s Circle. We just about ran their shop out of fittings, but they were happy to help. You can never have too many fittings:
Plus, the water pump is in, as well!
Finally, there’s shelter. It always helps to have a roof over your head; maybe not so much in this weather, as cabriolet enthusiasts would argue, but it never hurts in case of the occasional rain storm. The RS6 has found its most recent home back on the dyno, as….wait…..what? It’s on the dyno?! Really?! Yes, really.
You guys excited for the barbecue tomorrow? We are, too. Can’t wait to finally see so many of you guys in person! It’ll be a blast.
