S 63 AMG Exhaust – Custom Fabrication

S 63 AMG Exhaust – Custom Fabrication

This week at the shop the fabrication department spent their time designing and crafting a custom S 63 AMG exhaust. This customer had previously brought us his V12 Vantage for a custom midsection with an x-pipe to help extract that high revving V12 scream. Our exhaust gave his car a unique sound, so when he purchased an S 63 AMG and was unhappy with how it sounded he naturally brought it to us so we could work our magic. After looking over the aftermarket options he realized all the S 63 AMG exhausts out there had a flat and raspy tone to them – especially at high RPM due to their use of cheap materials and chambered mufflers.

We took a look at the exhaust and started plotting out what technologies we would need to incorporate in order to pull a really clean but still aggressive sound out of the handbuilt M157 5.5 liter V8. We have a lot of experience building custom exhausts for all kinds of cars, but especially for Mercedes. We knew we would need a carefully placed x-pipe, to straighten out the midsection as much as possible, increase the diameter of the tube, add resonators to clean the tone and manage the drone, and add valves controlled by the stock button – that way the customer could choose between quiet and violent. Cleaning up the tone helped bring this is S 63 to life, and to set it apart from all the other AMG cars that utilize the same motor. In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger – “The worst thing I can be is the same as everybody else.”

We think we absolutely nailed this one! Let us know what you think in the video comments!
