FMU BBQ Important Announcement

Hey, remember that awesome BBQ we’re having with a BYOB policy? Well, that last part needs to be tweaked just a bit. And by tweaked, we mean removed.

There are a number of reasons why the BBQ has to get rid of the BYOB policy and move to a dry event. The main reason is that this is going to be a seriously epic barbecue; with just about 200 people saying they’re attending, our staff of 12ish cannot handle policing of that proportion. Plus, only a small handful of us have restaurant experience and are capable of pointing out underage drinkers from halfway across the parking lot; not to mention it’s also very awkward to get carded at a BBQ, especially if you *are* 21. Finally, since we’re in unincorporated Will County, every time we’ve tried to get a hold of them, nobody knew which department to forward us to, and most times we’d end up talking to a fax machine. From a purely risk management standpoint, it’s in everybody’s best interests if we don’t allow any alcohol at the event, so that’s the decision we’ve chosen.

Besides, if you were coming just for the booze, shame on you. We’re all cool kids when we’re sober, and we all know the real reason you’re coming is to see Craig’s beard in person. You won’t be let down, we can assure you of that. Get excited! Friday’s almost here!
