02 Sep Caliper Painting Tesla 85D
There are a number of things you can do to improve the overall styling of your car. Often times the “nicer” the vehicle, the easier this goal becomes with seemingly simple touches. So, if you are fortunate enough to drive a brand new Tesla 85D, these things would become even easier. Knowing this, our client came to us looking for a way to make his all electric car stand out from the crowd. Our suggestion? Caliper Painting Tesla Brakes in a bright color!
Powder coat the calipers in a color that would really grab some attention. We thought something along the lines of an “eco green” to follow the theme of “going green”, but give this vehicle the bit of “pop” it deserves. After a quick search through the Prismatic Powders catalog, we found a color that made just that statement! Sublime PSS5768. Now powder coating is a more durable outer coating than paint, but the process requires a lot more labor due to the high temperature curing process needed to make the color adhere. There are many rubber seals and covers on calipers to begin with but these Tesla calipers also had an additional electronic parking brake. Because these parts are exposed to temperatures upwards of 400 degrees F for extended periods of time as well as their delicate nature, complete disassembly of the brake caliper is required.
As you can see below, the original black color is entirely too boring behind the wheels!
This green was just what the customer wanted! Leaves the car subtle, but still lets people know that this car is unique.
