13 Nov AMG Flex Fuel Conversion
Recently Alex of LegitStreetCars had his C63 AMG at our shop for some additional dyno tuning for his AMG Flex Fuel conversion. About a year ago he installed larger fuel injectors and a flex-fuel kit from VRP speed. This car also has long tube headers and larger fuel injectors. Along with our custom exhaust system, a video of that can be found here.
Victory Road Performance makes an E85 conversion kit that is compatible with just about every recent AMG car out there. The kit is really useful because it is a simple plug and play installation that allows you to run gasoline, E85, or any mixture of the two. Kits like this typically include an injector harness, some injector plug adapters, an inline ethanol content sensor, and a commander module. These kits automatically take care of adjusting the injector pulse width so that you can run E85 or blended fuels without worrying about switching back and forth between different tune files for each fuel type, or being worried that your blend content is not perfect. This makes an AMG Flex Fuel conversion a walk in the part, especially because E85 can actually range anywhere from 51%-83% ethanol at the pump. We wanted to take a closer look at the power gains from using one of these kits, as well as what kinds of gains can be made when you combine this kit with an ECU tune that refines some of the fueling and adds timing.
If you are looking for an AMG Flex fuel conversion on your vehicle hit us up! We are conveniently located in Naperville at the Iron Gate Motor Plaza near i88 and RT 59.
If you are looking for an exhaust system similar to what is in Alex’s C63 shoot us an email. We have built a jig so that we can produce a catless midsection that bolts onto the stock headers and axle-back section. All the information can be found here.
