20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

Perhaps all that rain yesterday got us excited. Either way, we couldn’t contain these pictures any longer.

We can’t/won’t say exactly what this is, and we’re not going to tell you what we’re affixing it to (hence the blur in the last picture), but the title should give you enough of a hint. We’ve put a lot of planning into this specific thing, and it’s not entirely done yet, but we wanted to give you guys a sneak peek at what’s coming out of fabrication this week. Once it’s fitted exactly where we want it, we’re going to paint it to match the rest of the vehicle, giving it a nice sleek look, on top of that “ridiculous” look it’s already got.

It’s been a while since you guys post updates for the X5 beast. What’s the big roof box used for?

It’s a snorkel. They’re commonly used for applications that involve submerging the car partially in water; even if the car is underwater halfway up the engine, as long as the air going into the snorkel is water-free, then the car should continue to run perfectly (barring any entrance of water into the crankcase).
