27 Jan They See Me Rollin’…
But they’re not hatin’. Mostly because this isn’t that craptastic song, but also because this blog post is about rolling, and that’s tough to hate on.
Put away your hashish, Cheech. It’s not that kind of rolling. First up, we’ll be excited to get the 318 rolling once again, as its SPEC clutch has arrived in the nick of time! In the meantime, we’re continuing to wire up the 318 for roadworthiness, as none of the lights or anything were working when the car arrived here.
In other rolling news, we have an AP1 Honda S2000 in the shop for a custom roll bar installation. He’ll be competing in the top tier of NASA’s High Performance Driving Event this coming season, so we’re here to make sure his rollbar is up to spec. The stock roll bars on the S2k are hidden in plastic shrouds behind the seat, and in the event that the owner wants to move to SCCA events, those bars alone won’t pass the tech inspection.
Therefore, we’ve begun the length process of removing most of the interior around the seats, including the seats themselves, the stock roll bars, and the convertible top. From there, we’ll check clearances and begin working. But until then, there’s still a bit of disassembly to do.
Along with being prepared for the track with his roll bar, this S2k owner makes sure that he’s prepared for any other issue while driving the car. His Honda-brand S2k service manual looks like it’s been read through a couple times, which is a good thing to see. The more an owner knows about his or her specific car, the better.
And this is probably one of the cleanest engine bays we’ve seen in the shop. Obviously they’re clean when they leave if we are able to hose them down and dry them out, but very rarely do cars *enter* the shop in this level of condition. You’d think the engine bay was hermetically sealed by how dust-free it is. Not even one errant leaf has been seen.
And lastly, as a measure of revenge for last week’s office prank, here’s a poorly-timed picture of Tom halfway through giving a thumbs up. Doesn’t this photo instill the utmost confidence in his work? The answer is yes, yes it does.
Have a great weekend!
