14 Feb Stuck In The Middle With You
It’s remotely Valentine’s-ish, and it also slightly explains the idea behind today’s post. Clever holiday-themed title: Complete.
Fab’s been stretched lately, but no matter how much work we saddle them with, they still continue to perform swimmingly. Along with the E38 brake swap, they’re also finishing up the RS6 intakes’ welds, and today they’ve broken ground on a new midsection for a customer’s C63 AMG. The new midsection will delete both the primary catalytic converters and the resonator box, replacing those points of constriction with straight stainless steel piping and a custom-welded x-pipe. Here’s the basic outline of what this midsection will look like upon completion (we have an old C63 midsection hanging out over there):
So the cutting has begun. AJ and Tom started out by slicing all the pipe they’d need to start construction of the x-pipe, arguably the most work-intensive part of the construction process:
While this is happening, Eastway’s manning the CNC mill, cutting out the flanges to connect this midsection to the OEM headers:
So now that everything’s been cut for the x-pipe, Tom started welding not too long ago. Despite how little time he’s had, he’s already managed to almost complete the x-pipe. All that meth we’ve been sneaking into his Monsters is really working out for our benefit. So far, everything’s looking just as good as it always does. Some of the best welds in the state, that’s for sure…
And that’s where we are at for now. Obviously, things will continue to happen after this blog has been constructed and posted, so updates are definitely not few and far between. Keep your eyes peeled (except for when Tom’s welding, nobody needs arc eye).
