11 Nov Project Updates: Exhaust!
It’s been a while since we’ve updated you on the progress of the exhausts we’re currently fabricating. The two that we’re focusing on right now are the customer’s Corvette and Marilynn’s M45.
The Corvette exhaust is coming along nicely. We’re almost finished with the exhaust tips, which are the last piece of the puzzle. The owner wanted to retain the stock midsection, so we’ve fabricated the stainless-steel replacements from the header flanges to the midsection (deleting the catalytic converters) and from the midsection to the tips. For stealth purposes, the customer requested a set of Vibrant mufflers. The installation and placement of the Vibrant mufflers was a breeze, considering the massive size of the stock Corvette exhausts. There’s still plenty of space up behind the rear bumper to smuggle whatever illicit goods you could imagine.
The M45 is also proceeding nicely. Craig is just finishing up the last section of the rear part of the exhaust. As Marilynn puts it, she wanted the mufflers to, well, muffle the sound a bit, “because I’m old.” Either way, the welding is just as spectacular as always; Craig put together a great X-pipe for the M45’s midsection, and it’s already sounding great before adding the last section at the tail.
And just for no better reason than “because we can,” here’s a shot of Tom working on the Corvette exhaust. Don’t let the intimidating mask fool you; he’s actually a twelve year old boy. Who apparently needs to spend some time in the sunlight, not that there’s much of it left in Illinois.
