11 Oct Dog Day Afternoon
A happy Columbus Day to everyone! If you happen to be in grade school or work for a variety of governmental outfits, then enjoy your day off. For the rest of us, however, it’s business as usual. In honor of this undercelebrated day, we’re showcasing one of the more undercelebrated parts of Fluid MotorUnion — our shop pups, Diesel and Jade.
Diesel (the dark one) and Jade (otherwise affectionately known as Momma) are the loyal subjects of OJ and Marilynn. In total, they own 7 dogs, but Diesel and Jade are the two that most prefer to hang around the shop during the day. They both function as excellent greeters, assaulting their little dog-fence with yips and yaps at the arrival of every customer to walk through our doors. Whether they know you or not, they’ll bark until you get close enough to pay them some attention.
Occasionally, they’ll fight amongst themselves, much to the delight of us (and probably to them, as well). Recently, Diesel’s taken up some sort of weird infatuation with Jade’s ears, which we can’t really explain. We just try to ignore it.
Diesel is definitely the less sedate of the two dogs. He’s more intent on being up in one’s grille, but if nobody’s paying attention to him, he’ll just collapse in the middle of the floor, like some furry inanimate object.
Jade, while being a bit more quiet and independent, certainly enjoys attention from Marilynn and Craig. She’s always the first one to hear somebody coming in, and she’ll be the first one at the fence. Just like a security system, but without all the wiring and expensive equipment.
