Craig’s Creation: E46 M3 Exhaust

Craig’s Creation: E46 M3 Exhaust

We here at Fluid have a sizable number of regulars that roll through our garage. More often than not, they’ll first come in for some small piece of work, take notice of what else we’re doing and want to come back. As time goes on, they’ll keep coming back, wanting something to be bigger or better. What starts out as puppy love can soon turn to undivided devotion, as there is no cure for the modification bug once you’ve been bitten.

Such is the case with this white E46 M3. Originally, the owner had purchased a supercharger on his own and was looking for somebody to install it. Naturally, after hearing about Fluid, he came by the shop to get the work done. Once he was here, though, he witnessed exactly what makes our shop different from the rest; by taking note of our attention to detail and dedication that borders on the crazy side, he knew he was in the right place. Since then, we’ve done a few more things to his car, including some body work and an Autosolutions short shifter kit (possibly the best short shifter out there for BMWs), but namely the exhaust.

Once again, Craig makes welding look simple and beautiful. The tone that comes from this M3 is unreal, much throatier than stock with very little drone, if there’s even any at all. It sounds somewhat tame at idle, but once you get up on it, it holds nothing back in letting you know that there’s something serious happening. It snarls, it pops, it sounds like it’s a barely restrained animal halfway through chewing its way out of its cage.

For now, the M3 is back in the hands of the client, but just like many of our other regulars, we’re know that he’ll come back, especially since we’re currently in talks with him to change his setup around a bit. And when he does return, we’ll get some video evidence of just how mean the exhaust actually sounds.

That is one beautiful job right there. The welding looks outstanding and the whole setup leaves me jealous.

this was a custom piece. we do custom pieces for any car, so if you’d like an estimate, roll through the shop and we’ll be more than willing to give you a good number.

And to expand on my previous remark, we’re looking into different methods of mass production of our custom parts, as well. Once we roll that out, we’ll only need to fabricate a master copy, so costs will lower for both us and the client. Keep on the lookout for more info on that soon!

I stopped by the shop yesterday on the advice of a friend for a couple of questions on needed work on my E46 M3. I met Marilyn, who instantly began telling me about Fluid Motorunion and their mission/projects. She had me tour the facility, showed me current projects and introduced me to OJ with whom I discussed my needs for my ride.
Outstanding! I’m planning on dropping off the car this weekend for some work.
    They evoke the term “SERVICE”.
    I want this exhaust!

I bought this car last year from whoever “Jose” sold it too up around Chicago. I had a cop pull me over in a Walmart parking lot just to tell me that it’s the best sounding bmw that he has ever heard. I wish I knew more about the setup since I didn’t buy it directly from Jose. It’s in need of some work on the subframe and engine now. Definitely wished I lived closer!
