The day of our BBQ, we had a local business owner stop in with his incredibly awesome rat rod.

There’s really not a whole lot to say about this car, other than repeating the word “awesome” over and over again. The top has been chopped, there is no floor panel, everything involved in this car looks period-correct. Every angle from which you look at this car reveals another little secret that you didn’t notice at the other angles. It’s maybe as tall as Gold Wheels, but its diminutive size is made up for by its gargantuan presence. We’ve always admired this car from a distance and were very excited to have him actually stop by the shop and figure out what’s with all those loud noises he’s heard coming from our general direction. Not too sure what he’s talking about, to be honest, we’ve never built anything loud over here…

Whatever used to be on this door looks even better now that time has had its way with it. Once you get up close, you realize that there’s some seriously old-school blood running through this vehicle.

Awesome set of headers for a rat rod. Straight out the sides, no bull in the middle, just a short, fat pipe and some runners.

Now THAT’S a velocity stack.

The coolant overflow tank is a vintage 7-UP bottle, which adds extra ingenuity points. At least it’s not Mountain Dew – then we wouldn’t know if the bottle had coolant or actual Mountain Dew in it.

No floor, just some pedals, a shifter, and a transmission. In proper form, the shifter is sky-high, and if somebody’s not careful, that’s a very easy way to lose a cell phone during driving.

And now the best part of the car — actual painted pin stripes!

And finally, one small trinket on the windscreen to tie it all together. It perfectly sums up the attitude of this car.
