Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend.
Things don’t wind down around Fluid until about 7, so there’s plenty of hard work left in the day. But that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy what we do. Especially with such gorgeous vehicles rolling through here.
Just as one C63 disappears into the night, another arrives at the break of dawn. Matt brought in his C63 from Indianapolis for a little bit of work. His KW v3’s were sounding strange, and we ended up finding a faulty shock. Thankfully it’s warrantied, so that will be fixed gratis by the folks at KW. After we swapped the stock shocks back on, we went about adding a small but important piece to his differential. AMG’s LSD cooler is essentially an aluminum heat sink; the air rushing under the car cools the fins pointing downward, which transfers heat away from the diff’s casing, helping reduce unwanted temperature in that area. While it’s a “bolt-on” part, one must still drop the differential, which isn’t necessarily easy without the proper tools. Thankfully, we have plenty of the proper tools. We also have plenty of creepy smiles, as evidenced by Keller while removing the old casing.
After a bit of RTV to help seal the case once again, the rear section was bolted on. After that, it was a small addition to the bottom of the new cooler, and blammo, one very nice-looking differential:
Have a safe weekend. After Sunday, it’s back to the reality of five-day workweeks for some of us. Oh well, Labor Day’s almost here.
