The Mondays

The Mondays

Sometimes you’ll have everything you need at your disposal to make a case of “The Mondays” go away. Today is one of those Mondays.

Mondays may have you feel like you’re constantly off-balance, and that you need something solid to stand against and keep you righted. That’s definitely the case with the mysterious turbo build, as the metal thing we showed you last week is now bolted to other metal things.

If you’re not off-balanced, occasionally a Monday will have you feeling incomplete, like you’re missing a piece. Eric’s Z4M was feeling much of the same way, but thankfully that’s a notion for the past now. The body shop has finished its work with the clearcoat for the other half of the airbox assembly, and just as we’d hoped, the carbon fiber overlay matches the weave of the plenum, and it provides a nice amount of pop to the engine bay. Very soon now, it’ll be on the dyno and we can determine just what kind of power we can get from this setup.

One of the best ways to reduce the symptoms of a case of the Mondays is to get a little extra pep in your step. Now, we don’t mean anything illegal; even a small cup of coffee can give you a little extra momentum to make it through the day. And adding a little extra pep is exactly what we did for Aqil’s M5. Already running a set of Supersprint headers, a cat delete and a custom rear section, Aqil moved from a MAF-based setup to alpha-n, and picked up some power along the way. An extra 16 horsepower to the flywheel will shuffle him past all the other traffic just that much faster.

What causes the loop-de-loop on the dyno graph? Nice gains, btw.

Chris, The loop-de-loop is caused when the wheels cannot maintain traction on the rollers, so they slip a bit and make that loop. It can be caused by anything from crazy torque (like the SL65) to balding tires, and more.

    And thanks!
