Sometimes your eyes can deceive you. Just like the sheriff in the church scene from Kill Bill Part One, just because you think it’s dead, doesn’t mean it is.
Case in point is this E90 328i. If you’re not sure how it ties into the lede for this blog post, well, just take a look at it.
We think it’s fairly obvious that this car has seen better days. What started life as a normal BMW ended up the victim of a very unfortunate rear-end collision. Don’t worry, the passengers and driver were fine; obviously, the car did its stated duty of protecting those that were inside of it. But did it end up paying the ultimate price for that lack of broken bones?
If you would’ve asked most of the employees at Fluid, we would have agreed with what you’re probably thinking — this car HAS to be totaled. The damage definitely didn’t end with the cosmetic — a quick glance underneath the body tells the same story as what’s up top.
Anything powerful enough to do this to a piece of steel exhaust piping must certainly spell the dreaded T-word inside your insurance agent’s head…right? Right?
Wrong! If there’s one group of rapscallions up to the task of rebuilding the rear end of this 328i, it’s the body and paint crew at Fluid MotorUnion. Once the adjuster saw the car, they had faith in FMU to restore it to its previous Bavarian glory. After all the bureaucratic excitement of phone calls and paperwork had subsided, it was Fluid’s turn to start the dirty work. With a little elbow grease and a bit of time, we knew we could bring it back from the dead. Which is exactly what we plan to do … in the next blog post!
